All Ages FacePainting
Please help me create a super silly and beautiful art installation in the Pods for May and June. I will be filling the Seven Store Fronts (The Pods) all along Halsted near 18th St with brightness and whimsy. I would really love for you, yes YOU (especially residents of Chicago and really super especially residents from Pilsen) to be a part of it. All ages, genders, peoples of every shape and size are welcome!!
Come out to Second Friday to get your face painted and get your picture taken in my photobooth making a SillyFace to be printed and displayed.
The event information can be found on my website Events page.
I also have a facebook event page.
My sweet little nephew Deanie, the one who at 3 months old helped me write both SillyFace and The Little Book of Laughing, is now 2 years old and reading beautifully from SillyFace! (I think he’s a pretty good performer too!) Too cute. Oh My Goodness~~ Once again, to purchase your own copy, please visit www.msAnnaArt.com
This is a commissioned mural in a new home in Skokie, IL. It descends a staircase and is on the ceiling. The inspiration for the mural came from a collection of ideas and images special to the home owners.
As I painted, a story emerged. It is the story of a lonely unicorn who comes across a magical spring. When he leans down to drink, he finds that there is a whole other world on the other side of the water. A world filled with beings just as magical as he.
I am going to title it “Magic Spring”. It make me think of the “Through the Looking Glass” concept.
I am available for commissioned murals in your home as well. Prices start from $600.
Oh My Goodness!!
PreSales are available on my website here
They sell for $15 each which includes free shipping within the United States.
The book is 6″ X 6″ and is in sturdy board book format.
The book is for babies ages 0-3.
The story includes 7 sets of regular and silly faces, “Red face anyplace, but can she make a SillyFace?” One set is for each color of the rainbow. “Oh my goodness.” The story ends with a final set, “Your face anyplace, but can YOU make a SillyFace.” Upon turning the last page, a sticker mirror is revealed, “Ok, let’s see it.”
This is Ms Anna’s 2nd self published book. The official release will be at the DIY Trunk Show at the Chicago Armory on November 22nd. PreSale copies will be delivered in time for the holidays. I am so honored to have gotten to work with Ryan on this project. Watch this video to see a 30 second stop animation of Ms Anna creating the beautiful hive painting. Though it wasn’t planned, Ms Anna’s Mother Heron totem makes an appearance at the beginning of the video. Please watch the whole video to see and hear about Ryan’s work to create natural homes for Honey Bees throughout the Chicagoland area. While his project received full funding in just a few days of his kickstarter, Ryan can use more funding for even bigger visions for the bees. Some of his visions include an official bee park and garden within the city. More of his kickstarter can be found online https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ryanfalenlee/rivendell-apiaries
I painted well over 200 faces during the three day festival, not to mention the 60 faces I painted the thursday night before at a design office party. It was a lot of work but it was worth it. I also got a few young art collectors out of the deal as two young girls came to raid my $5 sketch pile. I also sold several copies of Everybody Hoops but me. What a weekend.
